A water heater is a valuable appliance in any home. It is important to ensure that the right unit has been installed safely. At Andersen Plumbing and Heating, we understand the importance of proper water heater installation. We have highly qualified and experienced plumbers to ensure that the quality of work is not compromised.
The Process of Installing a New Water Heater
It could be that you want to install a water heater in your new home or add a system to a seasonal cottage. No matter the reason, it is important to understand how the process works.
Step 1: Create a Platform
The first step is to choose an appropriate location for the new water heater. The plumber will then construct two or three concrete blocks on the floor. The purpose of the block is to protect the appliance from damage.
Step 2: Center the Tank
Your plumber will slide the tank on top of the blocks while ensuring the drain faucet is facing forward.
Step 3: Install the Relief Valve and Discharge Pipe
The discharge pipe will direct water to a drain in the floor. If there is no drain, the owner will need to place a bucket under the pipe.
Step 4: Connect the Water Supply
The plumber attaches the appropriate hose and fittings.
Step 5: Fill and Flush the Tank
The plumber checks for leaks and removes debris and air from the tank.
Step 6: Turn the Power on and Set the Temperature
The installation is complete once the power is on, and the temperature is usually set after determining the owner’s preference.
